(I also now have a Starcraft II Hotkey Editor for versus and co-op modes. Let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions. I know that there are probably already utilities for this and that Warcraft III Reforged will almost certainly have this functionality built-in, but it was a fun project for a couple of weekends. The editor will retain any data for units that are not in the editor (e.g., if you read in a file that has hotkeys for all of the DOTA heroes, all of that data will still be in there when you save even though the editor doesn't have any DOTA heroes on it). Enter or copy-and-paste the following path: userprofileDocumentsWarcraft III Opening the folder for your Warcraft III profile. Windows Press Win + R to open the Run dialogue box. The load function hasn't been tested extensively, but it can read all of the provided sample files (including a grid layout and the WTVR QWEASZ set), the default "CustomKeysSample.txt," and certainly any file generated by this editor. Open your existing hotkey file in a text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit, paste the contents of the new file into it, and save. It does not currently support any custom map units.

It has all of the standard multiplayer units and structures, including creeps/mercs, plus campaign units. Of course, this will also apply all other data located in this file, along with changing the tooltips and other hotkeys of these standard abilities. Save and import the modified file in your map under Units\CommandStrings.txt again. The editor will highlight hotkey conflicts and button position conflicts in red. Apparently, it is directly the first one at the top. In addition to editing hotkeys, you can also edit tooltips by clicking on them and reposition buttons by dragging and dropping. It can "spirit link" hotkeys so you can set a group of related ones all at once and can automatically generate appropriate tooltips for you. I've only tested it in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.

Wc3 reads custom keyboard shortcuts information from the file CustomKeys.txt located at the root of the game's instalation directory. The command card is a grid with 3 rows and 4 columns. The default gameplay (melee) has many elements: 4 races, 56 buildings, 47 units, 24 heroes (each with 4 abilities), many shop items and neutral units, etc.Īs a result, the memorization of the keyboard shortcuts is very challenging.įortunately there's an easy way to reduce all that keyboard shortcuts variety by mapping the position of the command card icons to similarly arranged keys.
